We got color....

#1 Post by Bruce69Camaro » Thu Apr 07, 2011 8:41 am

Well it didn't take my coworker long to start working on my car.
He took all the fiberglass parts and painted them first, with the exception of the hood, because I don't want to waster time and material on my current hood when it's not going to be used.

Here are a few pictures of what I walked into when I came into work;

If you have any troubles viewing them, let me know because this is a new site for me to keep my pictures.

Ok, would you prefer me in boxers, boxer-brief's or a thong... :smt118 :smt118 (trust me, I don't have a figure like our famous Mike Peters)

According to my coworker, whom besides doing my car, needs to get his 8's Mustang ready, he said he wants it all orange by the end of May. I told him his car is more important but he insists it will be orange by the end of May.

The front end is off and those parts are scheduled to be painted next, then the doors, and then the body.
Then it gets all put back together and he wants to put the stripping on, then once it drys for a good time, he wants to wet sand it with 2000 grit and buff it.

I still need to get the new hood but that's the last thing I want him to paint. I also want a new fiberglass front bumper but the chrome one will do for now. I'm also thinking about a RS grill in lieu of the stock one.

THEN after all that is done, new door seals will get put on and then all the exterior trim and finish the interior.

So I'm going to have an exciting summer.

As soon as new parts are painted, I'll post them....stay tuned!

Here's an update: Today I was told that my car will be picked up on Sunday and taken to the shop.
He wants to do what little body work there is and then paint it on Good Fiday and I can have it back on Monday.

Then as he paints more parts, I can take them and put them right on the car instead of letting them sit in my garage until the body got paint.

After the body, the doors are next and then the front end.

I'll post the picutres when I get it back.

Thanks Hitch,

John posted more pictures for me because our work has locked things done and we're not able to view or get into photo hosting sites.

But here is an update, the doors are going to get some color this week and after they get hung back on the car, I'll take some more pictures.

Hey Harry,

Nope the car isn't going to be street legal, just for the strip but it wouldn't take much to convert it back to a street car.

I'm hoping by the end of June it will all be back together and orange, then I need to get my new hood and have that painted and then get the stripes put on.

Should be an interesting summer.......
