I think mine might have helped, it seems to hook up better in high gear now. Course changed a bunch of stuff at the same time, so not easy to say for sure.

I guess generating down force at speed could be of help, I had not thought of that. LOL! Harry I like your thinking! Wings do look cool. They do help the slipstream by cleaning up the dirty air behind the car and down force at speed some. The wicker bill on my wing is only .400 tall so it doesn't act as a air brake. Here's one you didn't think about. A wing on the back also acts like the feathers on a arrow. If the car gets out of shape at the top end the wing can help keep it going straight.
It's pretty light (6.2 lbs). I used .050 thick 6061-T6 aluminum sheet and .060 aluminum angle to build it out of. The parachute mount will make up for it.

Wings do a great job of pushing the air past the rear of the vehicle to eliminate the merge point of the air flowing over the top of the car and the air flowing underneath the car. This helps the car be more stable at speed. Very rarely are wings used to create downforce. Pro Stock cars have rules that limit the angle of wings and the rules pertain to negative angles...not angles that would create downforce. Downforce is drag and slows you down. However, without extensive wind tunnel testing, adding a wing is a guessing game as to how it will affect each car body shape.

Hey Harry.....seeing that BOTH John and Chris have experience in making wings, maybe they'd like to try making a few Camaro wings, you know, just so we can have the "cool" look too...LOL
Chris/ John, when you made the spill plates, what did you use to smooth out the radiuses, a belt sander or did you have someone make them on a CNC machine?

The price for CF is high $$$$$$$. One 4' X 8' sheet of CF .060 thick is $500.00 + shipping and everything else to build one. It would have been close to $800.00 to build it. I have less than $300.00 in this one......

Yes I think you could But would still be 3 times the cost of aluminum. I have about $80.00 dollars in the aluminum to build the wing. My alu. wing only weighs 6.2 lbs and you might only save a pound or 2 out made out of CF. I didn't think it would be worth the cost to build one out of CF.
Might build a CF wing when I have $500.00 to through away.

May not be totally carbon fiber (or may may not even be carbon fiber at all) but, could be lighter weight than aluminum -
