hello guy's i don't drag a car i drag race a (atv) yamaha banshee 350 2 stroke engine and i was trying to get some help on my plug reading first of all i am running 34mm pj carbs with 162 main and 62 pilot jet at 212' above sea lever (14 passes)on the first set of plugs.
the second set of plugs have 160 main jet with (8 passes) the second set look good to me but i think i could use alittle more timing .
also this is race gas (110) i thought i would ask you guy's, some of the atv guy's will help but most of them won't so i thought i would post here and hope i get some help.

Re: Plug Reading
They are still Fat (2nd set) can't tell anything about timing as we can't see the end of the plug (electrode/base/threads etc.)

Re: Plug Reading
thanks for a reply john, john on my alky plugs i always look for a burn mark half way around the metal base do i look for the same for gas, and you also say that the plug is still fat should the smoke ring be smaller

Re: Plug Reading
I can't really see any timing marks on those bases from that picture. From the looks of the plugs they are somewhat hot plugs also. Not sure how much difference reading plugs on a 2 stroke is from a race gas 4-stroke, but yeah they are fat. I'd start pulling fuel out and see if it responds and goes faster but leave timing alone till you get a lighter ring on the plug.
