Rear main oil galley plug.400 sbc...

#1 Post by MOKANRACER » Fri Dec 05, 2008 2:01 pm

Can any one give me the details concerning the OD size of this oil galley plug and the depth "dim" for insertion? I under stand, there may be a stop of sorts? Also have heard that placement is critical,as it could block off the oil port to the filter. Other 350 and 400 blocks I typically measure 1.350 to 1.500.. My 400 is measuring 1.635 so I have some doubts.. I can blow air thru the mains and thru the main pump oil hole. One way I get air out of the oil filter boss, the other way,I pull a vacume at the oil filter boss. Thanks,, Image I removed the plug from my broken block. Its .500 with a .020 taper. Also it has a .020 ridge around the top, "STOP" to keep it from going to far...Image For those that didnt know, I broke my mtr at the Hot Rod Nostalgia Oct 12th.Made it thru 3rd round elim,s. Some pro guys I talk to say Im running to much cylinder press ure for a stock sbc. That they have all been there, untill they went with after Mkt blocks, any way Im building a 406 for next year. Image
