Cleaning a fuel pump

#1 Post by DriveWFO » Sun Feb 12, 2006 1:04 pm

I have a Victor fuel pump that had alcohol run through it at some point. It looks like there's some type of white corrosive substance on the inside of the pump. The pump has a new rebuild kit in it. Should I be worried about that white stuff, or should I attempt to clean it somehow???

That's real common with alky, yes you should be worried about it... it'll get into the carb if you put it on like that. Take it apart and clean all the white corrosion out of it.

I don't remember what works real good, diesel or solvent & a wire brush most likely.
