Help me on picking a carb..

#1 Post by 434 nova » Mon Jan 25, 2010 8:47 pm

Ok here is where i am at. I sent that dominator back and am gonna do it right. I am deciding from either buying a new dominator from summit or getting a prosystems carb. Which would work better and make more power a 1050 dominator or a 4150 1000 cfm prosystems carb. I filled there carb sheet out and that is what they recomended for my application or the new 1050 Sv1.
Here are my specs.
434 11.3 compression
Afr 235 heads
1 7/8 headers
Super victor 2925 ported by CFM
264-272 678-658 109
69 Nova 3200#s
4500 stall 4.10 gears
28 x 10
300 shot of nitrous

Which is the Best carb for me. Thanks

Fogger or plate system? The reason I ask can you even fit a plate under the SV1 without a huge spacer, which in turn will it fit under your hood?

The SV-1 might take you out of some classes to run. Thay are not allowed in the class I run. My carb is a Pro Systems 1000 hp Holley. It's a great carb.

Go with the 1000hp........

If it were me I'd get an 8082 Ultra HP. I has all the stuff to allow you to tune it, and is a 2 circuit Dominator. I might even go with the 7320 Ultra 1150, but that would be me. I run a 1250 on my little small block...

Given the combination listed, I would run the 1000HP 4150 carb.

Don't get confused on the 4150 over the 4500. I called to buy two carbs from Patrick, one for a 406 with 18X heads, made 681Hp...he sent me a 4500 1050 for it. I also needed a carb for my 388" (big bore short stroke) 18* motor and he sent me a 1000HP 4150 with "aggressive" dominator metering!!! By the way, the 1000HP is for sale if you are interested! I'm building a new 15* motor and am going SV1....Its 3 seasons old, consistent and fast!
