Innovators west balancer
I was talking to my engine guy yesterday and told him i might be getting a innovators west balancer and ask him if he had ever used one or built a motor with one. He said that he had one in his shop and had used them before and they work great. But he told me the only problem with them is the bolt holes that you use to mount ur pulleys up with. Said something about the older ones he had used were hard to get the holes lined up with pulley holes.... But he didnt know if they had maybe changed the design and made them more pulley friendly..
Just wondering if anyone else has had that problem? I use a crank trigger and pulleys for a alternator.
I just didnt want to have any problems when i go to mount my stuff up..

Didn't have any issues with mine, I'm running a 3 bolt crank mandrel and no problems.

I have an old one (it looks brand new now after they rebuilt it - thanks guys!) old enough that the crank trigger mags are IN the dampner. My pulley fits fine, it's a run of the mill chevy one.

Hey Adam, contact your buddy Chris Rose and ask him about your concerns - his e-mail address might give you a clue as to why he'd have your answers. chris@innovatorswest.com79 Camaro wrote:I was talking to my engine guy yesterday and told him i might be getting a innovators west balancer and ask him if he had ever used one or built a motor with one. I didn't know Chris went to work for them? When did that happen?
Is he still selling stuff via his company too?

He's been there for a while now. Maybe he'd explain if you'd approve his Drag Stuff priviledges he just signed up for.....John_Heard wrote:I didn't know Chris went to work for them? When did that happen?

Re: Innovators west balancer
John,
I've been here at Innovators for a little over 2 years now. I'm still selling parts through C&B here and there. Unfortunately it wasn't evolving into a "paying" full time job, so I scaled it back to a nights/weekends/email type thing. Innovators is kind enough to provide a regular paycheck to pay the normal bills and the C&B money gets thrown back into the money sucking black hole of a racecar. :)
Adam,
As far as the bolt pattern concern, there really shouldn't be one. Prior to 1995 the dampers were being hand built by the previous owner of the company. Since Brad bought the company and relocated it up here to Salina, everything is made on the CNC's and while we aren't perfect, most of the inconsistencies in the dampers have been eliminated.

Thanks John. I'm definitely lucky to have a job here. I get to work around performance parts/cars all day AND get paid for it. It helps when the boss is a die hard drag racer as well.

Novastuff huh? LOL
I like Nova's ever since working on that orange one up at Procharger back in the day. If I was every forced to own a GM (hehehe), then it would likely be a Nova or late model Vette.

Re: Innovators west balancer
No problem Adam. I'm still hoping to find a break in the Vamp schedule to make it down to a MAKO race. Sounded like Jeff might make it back to Wichita this fall so that might be a good time to run with you guys again.
