Ok so 800?
I should be between 825 and 850 right now...

If I turn the boost up more it's supposed to jump up over 900...

We'll see - the tell will be on my time slips - tho there is a chassis dyno here in town I could hook up with...

Race gas, bigger carbs and more boost would be easy to hit 1000 hp...if not, a injector on alcohol

Sorting out last minute stuff...

Was gonna hit TnT this last weekend but decided instead to add another brace on the front of the ladder bar brackets and cross-member. I had visions of having this booger shredding the old original welds on the cross-member brackets and decided it'd be better to delay my playtime at the track while I addressed the issue.

I added some braces running forward to the sub-frame and these of course got in the way of my exhaust turn-outs (in the photos below you can just make out the 1" thick-wall tubes I added running forward and up to the sub-frame. I think they'll do the job). Out came the chop saw so I could get the frigging mufflers back on it for the street. Then I discovered the shorty pipes I ended up with created a harmonic that made your teeth hurt while out cruising the boulevard impressing the natives. I ended up down at Porter Muffler this afternoon so we could get the turnouts back in place. Gary (who runs a Supercomp Altered - 9.90 with a throttlestop) helped me out and shortened and rehung the turnouts.

All better icon_thumb.gif

While on the lift I got some shots of the chassis, etc. It's sure starting to look ragged under there in places - I'm gonna have to spend some time cleaning things up and painting over the coming months.

Anyway, here are some shots while I had the Camaro on the lift - you can see Gary was part way through trimming the exhaust tubes, etc...

A shot from the rear...

Image

And yet another, with a bit more perspective...

Image

And I had to lay down on the floor to get this shot – Gary was laughing at me lol. On the right you can see the new tubes I added to the front of the cross-member brackets.

Update:

Ok, so I got all my NHRA medical stuff out of the way today. Evidently I'm warm, walking and have a heartbeat and I got all the sign-offs from the doc, etc. :thumb:

Next, the Camaro goes into the fab shop for a new cage, I get it certed and then head for the track for my licensing runs. I had intended to just extend the current roll bar into a full cage but we found too many things needing to be revamped. So, I just bit the bullet and decided to pull the old bars out and go with a whole new mild-steel TIG solution. The Camaro goes into the shop down at Tolle Fab on Monday and I should get it back between the 18th and the 20th. After that, it'll be finish-up stuff getting ready for LA Invasion. I'll need to make licensing runs down there at either Irwindale or Fontana but we'll work that out as we go.

Man, I'm really getting jazzed about getting back to the track to make smoke with this thing !!!!!

I dropped the Camaro off at Tolle Fab down in Rancho Cordova this afternoon. We pulled the seats, interior panels and fuel cell out and they were immediately ready to start cutting the old cage out of the car. They took pity on me though and waited until I left the building.

Geezo, this is the very first time that thing has ever stayed overnite away from home without me. I have to laugh cuz it feels just like it did the first time my little girl stayed overnite at someones house without her Mom and me LOL...

Anyway, Mike told me I could come and visit anytime I wanted. That helps, but still... :?

They're installing a whole new 10-point mild steel cage, TIG welding everything. He said he would look at tying in my new front bars to the rest of the cage if it could be done without disturbing the dash too much. The cage should be pretty much finished towards the end of next week. I'll see if I can grab some in-process pictures along the way. :thumb:

Hey Harry, I know that feeling quit well. My Camaro has only left my house one time and I had this sick feeling everytime my phone rang and I saw it was Nelson.

But it came back within two weeks looking better then ever.

Your beast will be back soon. Pick up a nice little hobby, like needlepoint, that will help the time fly until she comes home :thumb:
Those who think they know it all have no way of finding out they don't.........

Ok, so here's an update on the cage work...

I'm really happy with what they've done so far, both with their design and the nice tight fitment on the tubes, etc. Everything is still tacked in place but they will be TIG'ing the stuff together starting tomorrow.

Here's a vew of the sill, dash and the A-pillar bars.

Here's a view of the windshield bar and top diagnonal.

Here's a view from the passenger side of the drivers bars. Very neat, very tight, very clean.

And a similar view with the B-pillar bar as well

The proper term is 'velour' I think, and yeah, I know. Welcome back to the days of disco. When they first built the Camaro back around 88' it was originally intended for the show circuit. I've been tossing chrome stuff away since I brought it home. It's all good tho :)

Stopped into Tolle Fab last nite to check progress - they have the cage in and finished - today they're installing my window net and adding connectors from the new A-pillar bars forward to the front clip bars I installed over the winter. All and all, the work these guys do is top-notch and extremely well thought out. I am extremely happy with the end product icon_thumb.gif

As soon as I get the car back to the shop I'll post some additional pix. Yee Haw !!!!

Looks like they did a very nice fitment on the cage, don't take this the wrong way but I just don't know why they would put the bars in front of the dash to me it looks a lot better going through the dash closer to the A pillar. I know its more work but I think its worth it.
