Knocking Noise

#1 Post by Blade » Sun May 22, 2011 7:21 am

I went to the Track a couple weeks ago to do some testing. Over the Winter I made some changes to the car, such as a smaller convertor, double adjustable ladder bars, manuel value body in the trans. On the last pass I was coming back down the return road I started to hear a knocking noise in the top left side of the motor. I looked at the oil pressure gauge and it showed 0.

I havent pulled the valve cover yet. What you guys think?

Now the motor is a Bone stock 454.

No oil pressure...my money is on a spun main bearing.

After doing some thinking, I have decided to pull the motor and put the better motor in. Kinda early but hey new and better is always better.

Ok found out that the knocking noise is coming from the headers hitting the Frame rail on the Subframe. I checked the headers and they are tight. Not sure how it moved. The motor doesnt have enough HP to twist the frame. Gotta do some more checking.

Looking at the oil Pressure. It showed 2 pounds of pressure. When looking at the Dip Stick, it was two quarts low. Gonna change the oil. Then go from there.
