octane timing and plug

I have a 350 runs an NSO snipper 100 shot 53/47. I have 6.5-6psi and 950psi. The motor runs grate at 38* and 36*. I have it set at 36* and the plugs look new white but the electrode is gray but not melted or burned, What is that? Also can I run more timing with 93 octane than say someone with 92. I have no detenation should I stay with the same jets and timing?
My car is not as fast as I think it is.

you have too much timing to be playing with nos. you make more power with nos with less timing. i would also use colder plugs with shorter electrodes.

Huh? More power with less timing? I agree that's probably too much timing but you need as much timing as you can get and still avoid detonation. Plus the plugs should tell the story regardless of what your timing light says if you are good at reading the plugs, and I don't claim to be! If you get into detonation you will cause piston damage, plug damage, and decrease power. Good point no_bite made about plugs. I would drop down to the next colder heat range below stock. Not a really cold plug for only a 100 shot. Besides, it dont sound like you're running alot of compression any way if you are thinking about running 93 octane and spraying. I wouldn't start out with a really cold plug if you don't have a heck of alot of compression and/or alot of N20.

when nos is applied.....you take timing out. a good starting point would to set total timing at 30 degrees when hitting the nos. the msd box i use, lets you pull out 2, 3, or 4 degrees when the nos solenoid activates. using too much advance with nos is deadly.

it is am nso kit. NOS suggests standard to 2* and standard plug to one colder. This is based on 5.5 psi fuel and 92 octane. I can only get 93 in texas. I have a trickflow chevy 420hp topend kit and they tell me to run it at 36-38* timing. The car seams to run better on motor at 38* (might be in my head). I run it at 36* on nitrous and off so I don't need to change. I have 10.1 . I am getting no speckle but I also have no color except the strap is gray like unpolished aluminum. Someone told me it might be fuel additive. Does this change anyone's mind?

i generally pull 1.5* per 50 horse of nitrous. if you are tee'ing off your main fuel supply for nitrous fuel then it is probably on the rich side. your nitrous will want to see around 5.5 psi and most carbs want to see around 7.0 psi.

find out what timing your motor likes best on the motor and then deduct 1.5 per 50 horse of nitrous and that should be real close. it will be safe also.
I myself would sacrifice a little power to protect my motor.

I am running a mallory 140 to reg the goes one to carb and one to nitrous. I have it set at 6.5. I would like to run to rich than lean. Thank's
