simple flow check ??

#1 Post by bluestreak » Mon Mar 02, 2009 10:35 pm

Hay all! I know that a bad a$$ flow checker is best but,for a low budget,
non competing, glory runs at the track (T-n-T's) and $t&e<t shtuff.
could you check flow w/current gauge (on cowl)?with the jet of course.
(think i read where some do this here? but i have 2 part question.)

can i get an accurate reading if i use the other side of the reg. for my
"tunnig tool" tap. While leaving the rest of the system plumbed.? Meaning
with the 2 port id leave evrything hooked up,but un plug the other side and
use it as the port to plug in the "tunning tool" ...fittings,jet,hose etc.etc.

thanks guys ,Tony D. let me know if you need more info please T.A.

I have a super simple flow tool. Its a 3/16" tube flare nut. I remove the fuel line from the plate, put the jet in the end of the line and then the tube nut holds it in.

A large calibrated gage is plumbed into the other side of the regulator and the flowing pressure adjusted to my tune-up.

O.K. here is how i have been doing it. tell me
if its right or wrong lol.
-take the fuel line from noid off of the plate(also), add my fitting for the jet, with
a lenght of hose.
-flow and adj. to psi. from gauge on cowl. liq. filled 2 5/8 auto meter,to 5.5 psi.
with desired jet.
- that is activating it w/ button
I have read where some flow from the reg. before the noid w/ flow tool .
more commints welcome thanks C.W......

That's basically how I do it, only I have a dedicated gage that I only use for flowing and I don't put any hose after the jet. I just put the end of the hose with the jet and the tube nut into the spout of a 1 gallon fuel jug.
