Cometic Progressive Controller

#1 Post by Craig W. » Thu Mar 12, 2009 5:44 pm

Anyone used a Cometic Nox Box-2 yet? I'm thinking of trying one, but there's not much info out there on how well they perform.

Its been out about a year I believe. Its programmable so you've got more control over the shape of the nitrous ramp. It also has some data logging capabilities, but I'm not expecting that to be real good.

I just wish I could find someone that's used it and can say "yes its a good piece" or "stay away, its junk".

Sounds like Cometic could use someone to test this new unit out and tell everyone how good it is hint hint.

Gee, why didn't I think of that? That's usually how my thought processes work!

Now where is that phone?

Thanks.

Just got off the phone with Cometic and they were interested.

So I'm drafting a proposal and sending them samples of the product reviews that I've done before.

Maybe this will pan out.

Did you end up with one of these? If so how has it worked?

Yes, I talked them into a freebie to review. My write-up can be found at www.2quicknovas.com/cometic.html

In a nutshell, its a nice unit. Its been reliable and easy to use. The data logger built into it is really basic and the sample rate is way too low, but its better than no data at all and will accept two external inputs.

For $256, its hard to beat. Lots of features and options.

Im thinking about buying one. Not trashing edelbrock units but I have one that works when it wants to. They are very bad at picking up noise and I've done everything you can do to one. Craig said the comectic was mounted close to his msd and everything. That a big selling point for me.

We are also thinking about it. I think we feel the same way the Edelbrock has a bad cloud over it right now.

I mounted is right under my MSD 7531 and HVC coil on purpose to test its resistance to noise. So its literally a 1/4" away from both.

As soon as I get my ignition problem figured out I'm going to try to get one. It's alot cheaper too. There are numerous guys having good luck out of the edelbrock, but there are alot of horror stories. I've got a couple haha.
