New fuel pump

#1 Post by julven » Fri Apr 28, 2006 11:50 am

John and members, I have to order a new fuel pump for my Nova today. My BG280 died last night and for what it cost to fix it I am going to spend the money on a new bigger badder unit.Whats the opinions and why on Magnafuel PROSTAR500 vs Aeromotive A2000 or A1000.I will say I am trying to keep cost down for my Dad is buying because he is way to good to me so the Aeromotive pumps are priced 80-100.00 less so I am leaning that way but we have a Magnafuel 500 on another car and it works great. Thanks in advance for the input.Jason

My A2000 has worked fine, no problems at all with it. Same for Magnafuel, I have one of their Quickstar 275 pumps that I used in the past and didn't have any problems. Both good brands.

John,is their anything I need to know that sticks out that might be differnt on this pump from any other bypass style pump?I was running my BG280 dead headed with two holley std regulators. So I will need to add that return at the pump but anything else you can think of? Thanks Jason

About the only thing different that I can think of is it does have an 1/8 pipe port on the pump for a guage. I have an old oil pump pressure gauge screwed into mine just so I could get an idea on the output pressure when adjusting it.

No I am going to and then sell it on E-Bay.I got to use the new Magnafuel this weekend works great.Very smooth on the gauges. The BG was always making the needle jump but it was dead headed so that could of been some of it.Jason
