bottle valves
Anyone ever replace a valve on your nitrous bottle? Any tips or tricks I should know about? I assume this is something I can do myself. I've got two 10lb bottles that I purchased super hi flow valves for and need to swap out the old medical grade brass valves.

Yes you can do it yourself, it's not too hard. Of course you want to make sure and bleed any pressure off before doing it!
It will help if you have an extra set of hands to hold on to the bottle. Just put a wrench on the base of bottle valve, it screws out like a bolt. I usually just grab a rubber mallet to smack the wrench with - it will take some sharp hits to get it broke loose most likely. Screws out like a regular thread = counter clockwise.
If you have to do it yourself, you'll need to devise a way to hold on to the bottle while your tapping on the wrench. You might be able to do it sitting down and wrap your legs around it, a sheet of rubber wrapped around the bottle will help immensely.

Update: Got the valves replaced on both my bottles this past weekend. What ended up working for me to hold the bottles was to use a ratchet strap. I tightend down the ratchet strap around the bottle then clamped the metal ratchet part into my bench vise. From there, a couple of sharp blows with the rubber mallet on the end of the wrench broke the valves loose and it was a piece of cake from there. Thanks for the ideas guys!
