blow down tube

#1 Post by rustbucket » Wed Mar 28, 2007 8:29 pm

stopped by speedshop yesterday. I couldnt leave without buying something, so I picked up a bottle blow down tube. I got home before I took it out of the box and cant figure out where its suppose to connect to the bottle valve. I removed the blow off valve off of a empty bottle and the threads on this down tube are much larger. Im guessing they come in different sizes? I have 3 nos bottles (1 older one and 2 new) and this doesnt fit any of them. I was hoping I could use 1 tube and switch between bottles but it seems the bottle would have to be empty to install it. dammit:

There are different sizes, but what you are probably facing is, there is another part that screws to the bottle that the tube goes to. I can't remember the part #, I have a couple @ home. I believe one is still in the box, when I get home in the morning I'll post ithe part # if someone doesn't beat me to it.

Should be holley part # 16166NOS for a NOS bottle high flow valve. This replaces the smaller 3 hole blowoff nut on the side of the valve.

Pictured above is what you need to adapt the tube to the bottle. They make two different ones. A 1st and a 2nd gen. The male threaded one is the 2nd gen. The female threaded one is the 1st gen. Once you have the fittings on all your bottles the tube will fit all of them. The bottles will have to be empty to install them and they cost about $25 bucks. Heres the part #'s 1st gen=16170, 2nd gen=16166.
