Never installed a Chev distributor before by myself, can someone tell me if I did it right?
-Dropped in distributor, engaged oil pump, rotor pointing at #1 cylinder
-Pulled out #1 plug, turned over engine by hand until air started to escape from hole (TDC)
-Engine was dynoed at 32 degrees of timing so I set the pointer at 32
-Installed cap, tightened distributor hold-down
-Ran plug wires clockwise in correct firing order (18436572)

Your first two points should have been done in opposite order.

When finding TDC i put a screwdriver (something softer is recomended though) in the hole touching the top of the piston and turn it over by hand until the srewdriver stops moving upward, that will get it very close to TDC.

Actually I did find TDC first, once the distributor was in I rotated it around one more time to make sure.

Where abouts in alberta are you?

The only other thing is to be sure you are on the proper upstroke of the piston for TDC.

Innisfail, AB. I'm sure I was on the proper stroke, you could feel the air push out of the plug hole as I turned it. The main thing I was concerned with was the position of the timing mark.
