OK i am stumped i cant figure out what is causing my brake light to go out only when the hedlights are on and i hit the brakes the left tail light goes out. If the headlights are off and i hit the brakes it works but then when i turn the lights on and then hit the brakes it goes off but back on when i let off the brakes. I changed all fuses and flashers. Has anyone had this problem before. thanks

I've had some problems out of the head light switch doing funny things like that. Is yours the original one? Also my tail light sockets on mine get loose sometimes. They'll work then got out and come back on.

It is the original headlight switch

I would start by checking the grounds. Specifically the ones that ground to the taillight assembly studs. If you have repainted your trunk with the taillights out that could be the cause. Or, like mine, the wires get brittle and break at the eyelet.

Definately sounds like a ground issue. I would start with checking the grounds like spaz said. Do not rule out the socket assembly also, a bad connection between the sides of the bulb and the bulb socket does the same thing.

did you do any rewiring to the switch or tail lights because there are some terminals on the switch that when you turn on the head lights the parking lights go off because some of the old cars were wired this way so maybe something got crossed just a thought

I agree that's its a bad ground. I've had mine do the exact same thing. Wired in a new socket and all is well.
