Wiring
Im getting ready to start wirng my car pretty soon, 55 chevy all origanal wiring gone. Starting from scratch. Heres my question, what type of harnesses are most of you all running? I was thinking just one of the aftermarket racecar 12 circuit type of deals but Im not sure. I still want lights and turnsignals, other than that its electric water and fuel pump, fan, ignition, start, gauges, transbrake, etc. No nitrous or delay boxes or anything fancy. Can that be done with a universal racecar or (prostreet) type of harness, and a switchbox?

I have had to wire three cars now and you wont believe what I like to use.
Elevator wire. I work construction and the elevator guys throw the extra away. Its a group of wires from 15 to 200. But the wire is colored in groups and numbered the length of the wire. So if you hook a wire up at one end of the car in the loom at the other end just find the number you want and hook it up. Sometime you have to use what you have.

Sc, on that universal 12 circuit is it easy to tap into the origanal column wiring harness for turnsignals and lights? How does that part of it work. The rest of it will be simple enough its all going to be on a board on the passenger side inner firewall. Thats were my ignition box, fuse box and relays will all be.
If your using a GM column you can get part # 10101 it uses the factory type connectors. Also check out EZ Wiring part # EZ12 its only $170 and Hot Rod Wires # UH12 its $199 they both have the GM connectors. I used an EZ kit in a 38 Ford Woody I built it wasnt bad I just like the Painless stuff better but I also dont have to pay for it when doing a clients car.
