275/50/15 on 1971 Nova

#1 Post by sbcnova » Wed May 02, 2007 10:13 pm

Ok guys I have a 1971 Nova with a stock width 8.5 10 bolt. I was wondering if I could fit a 275/50/15 mt street radial under it. I currently have the shocks moved to the inside of the springs and the outer lips are rolled. I would be using a 15x10 w/ 5.5 backspace. Is this possible?

My friend has a 72 with 275-60-15 M/T drag radials on a 8in wheel. think his b/s is 4in. They fit fine. Close on the inside.

Well Im currently running a 275/60/15 on a 8 inch wheel with 4.5 inchs of backspace. I just need to see if I can get the 275/50 under it.

The 10" rim will move the tire out 1" and in 1" plus the extra sidewall which should be about 1/2" each side so do some measuring before you but the new stuff.

if its anything like my 69 nova. They will not fit without serious mods. My car is mini tubbed ( and lowered)and will not fitt 275/50s unless i relocated the leafs. I tried a pair of m/t et streets on a 10 inch rim that a friend let me borrow and they did not fit. I have 275/60/15 et streets on a 10 inch wheel and they fit.

i had a 275/60/15 m/t drag radial under my car with a 15x8 with 5.5 backspacing, fit perfect with plenty of room on both sides.

Will a MT 28.0/10.5/15 on a 8" wheel fit on a 1972 Nova? It has a MT drag radial 275/60/15 with 8" wheel and fits fine. I dont think this car is mini tubed, but the rear shocks are moved to the inside of the springs.

Thanks

I have it all, wheels and slicks, I just have not tried(or had time) to mount them up. I will let you know when I get it done.
