perch install

#1 Post by nova6911 » Sun Jun 24, 2007 7:25 pm

i am putting a 9 inch housing under a 69 nova and want to get the perches welded on so i can move the car around. My question is this....With no motor ,trans, or center section in the car, how do i go about welding the spring perches on and still know where my pinion angle will be. Can you use a piece of flat bar flush on the front of the housing and then use an angle finder on that surface to come up with a rough pinion angle? I hope this makes sense.

If you're just wanting to move the car around just set the rear end on the perches and bolt her down with the u-bolts. it's not going anywhere without an engine in it. Then once you get the engine, tranny and driveshaft in it you can still move the rear end around till you get the angle you want on it, centered in the wheel wells, etc. Then tack the perches pull it out and fully weld it.
