axle twist

i have a ford 9 inch with stock 28 spline axles. while replacing some studs, i noticed the splines on my axle end had about a spline and a half twist. at what point do i replace my axles ??

Might be a good idea to start saving up for a new set and maybe upgrade to some bigger ones.

If I remember what Moser told me correctly it is common to see some twist over the length of the axle and over 1/2 twist and they should be replaced. In your case the twist sounds concentrated to just the spline area which is probably excessive.

It's a good idea to paint a full length line on your axles when they are new so you can keep track of how much is in them.
