#1 Post by jaspermaggie » Sat Mar 29, 2008 7:49 am

I am looking at tiers 275/60/15 it is sugjested to go on a 7.5 to 10 in rim. I have 7". Should I stay away?
My car is not as fast as I think it is.

The narrow rim will pull the sidewall in causing the tire to crown. The tread contact will be narrower than it should.I would get a 8" rim or drop down to a 255/60/15.If you want a tall tire use a 255/70/15

Is it a drag radial? I run a 10" with my 276/60 m/t's

I've run 275/60-15s on 15x7" rims on the street without any problems.

I also ran 28x10" slicks on the same size rim and it worked pretty good. 26x10s were squirrely on that narrow of a rim.

it is a drag radial, BFG. I can run a 8" rim but would like to stay with my 7", it will be cheeper. I cant go larger than 8
", it is a 55 chevy and some of the wheel is covered with the side of the rear.
My car is not as fast as I think it is.

I've run BFG 275/60-15s on a 7" rim. Seemed fine to me. You'll likely end up running a little bit less air pressure to compensate for the crowning that the narrow rim with cause, but being a drag radial, you won't run into any stability issues.
