Powerglide--turbo input shaft vs. glide input shaft

Which is stronger in a Powerglide, a TH350/400 style input shaft or a 'glide input shaft? I'm hoping to have a glide built later this summer and I'll be going to a new converter anyway. So I can go with either shaft.

Also, who makes the best/quickest transbrake?

I have a buddy that went through a couple of Glides until he got one from Mikes Trans. those guys REALLY know how to build a glide. You might want to give them a call.

I believe that the 400/350 shaft is stronger, but that is based on the fact that most of the ones I see that are built up for high horsepower for sale seem to use the 400 spline.

When I was researching getting a new brake for my car, it sounded like the Griner brake was one of if not the fastest that you can buy off the shelf. The one I had done by Neal Chance (Marty's Dad) is a modified Hipster Pro Brake, Neal said it would be just about as fast as you can make one. I'm not sure what all he did to it but he believed it would be every bit as fast as the Griner, maybe faster with a special top secret thing I'm using :twisted: I'll show it to you in Texas...

not sure on the strength, but a nice thing about the turbo splines is you are now able to use all kinds of different converters, not limited to just a glide converter.

Generally spline count dictates strength. A glide is a coarse spline and a turbo is a fine spline. Personally i've always ran a turbo input for my converters. THey are easier to find, and cheaper.
