9 Inch ends on a 12 bolt

#1 Post by Gus68 » Fri Nov 19, 2010 3:20 pm

Hey guys! I have a 12 bolt in my chevelle, with Strange C-clip eliminators, and a set of moser axles. I bought the Moser axles A few years ago, they have all the same dimensions as a stock 12 bolt axle, even the little nubs on the end for the factory C-clips. Anyway, i would like to get rid of the C-clip eliminators, cause the seem to leak, and weld on Ford 9" ends. My question is, will a Ford 9" bearing have the same inside diameter as the 12 bolt axle? My guess is no. If not, is there a bearing that has the outer diameter of the ford bearing and an inner diameter as the 12 bolt axle? Kind of a conversion bearing? Also, if I have 9" ends welded to my housing, how do I make it seal? Don't factory ford 9" rearends have a seal a few inches down in the axle tube? I have also heard of guys running the Olds or Pontiac style of ends, would this be an easier or better option? I know I can't be the only guy who has done this, what is the best way? And don't tell me I need new axles!!!! There is nothing wrong with them and I am on a budget. Actually I am maried with kids  .

they sell the ends that are just like ford but use the 12 bolt flange bolt patern so you can use all your stock or aftermarket chevy brakes

and if you need or want i can give you the phone number to call for them

I checked them out on Toms dirrerentials .com That looks like what I need. Anyone know if the bearing will work on my current axles? And how do the seal? That's one of my biggest things.
