tranny cooler position

Does it matter how a tranny cooler is mounted, as in, where the inlet/ outlet is located?

My cooler is mounted up front, with the lines coming up from the bottom. I saw somewhere that said
the lines should either come in from the side or from the top?

Does it really matter?

Can't see any reason what difference that would make. Whatever layout works for where you're mounting it at...

I think it was stated on the instructions for my cooler and I thought the same thing, why would it matter?

It comes in, gets cooled and goes out, what does it matter how it is positioned?

Thanks John......

Bruce,
Fluid pressure is fluid pressure......
The only thing that maters is having to push it forward against G-forces of the car accelerating.
My cooler is under the trunk pan where the stock fuel tank use to be. It has a small fan on it to cool.

There's one column of fluid pushing forward, another equal sized column getting pulled back so it equals out hehe...

I mounted mine ahead of the core support on the right side - seems to work ok

I have a B&M super cooler and I found the instructions and they show to mount it with the inlet/outlet either on the side or on top.

I couldn't figure out why this would matter?

I mounted mine on the lower portion of the radiator support with the lines coming up from the bottom.

I don't think it would have anything to do with fluid flow, but perhaps it is related to mounting and the direction of the fins? Dunno...

Supernova, do you get the same airflow with the trans cooler in the back like that? I have a Derale cooler with the fan attached, will that cool as much as the cooler in the front of a 79 camaro? I also have to remove the bumper support to save weight, but also let the airflow come in better.

Mine is in the rear under the trunk pan with a fan as well, no problems here.
