Need Help! 4-speed identification

#1 Post by ridg_runr » Thu Feb 08, 2007 5:31 pm

I bought a 4-speed, it is suposed to be a Muncie however I do not trust the guy I bought it off. The engine is a 454 Gen IV. He said it was bought from Jegs Jan 2006. All I see is Gen VI's, does anyone know when they quit selling Gen IV's? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We just got a 69 chevelle at work and I had to do some digging on the casting #s on the trans. The #s you have dont match up to any of the ones I found for muncies.Muncies have a 7 bolt side cover with the reverse lever in the tail housing, saginaw has 7 bolt with reverse in the side cover, and Borg Warners have a 9 bolt side cover.Hope this helps a little
