Part throttle and short shifting huh. Damn that dude is proud of himself. If I ever start to get out of line, dont hesitate to put me in my place. I can take criticism. :smt075

Of course, now we all know Ed's big secret. Part throttle and short shifting.

Funny story: When I first hit the track with the Camaro one of the racers helping keep me alive asked "Hey, are you lifting partway down the track? It sounds like you're backing out of the throttle."

I looked at him like he was insane and told him "Lifting ? Why the hell would I be lifting ?"

Well, sure enough. I caught myself lifting just as I hit third gear. Street habits, right ? Bang third gear, lift and look in the mirrors, checking for cars with light bars... LOL  :smt003

Next run I picked up almost 4 tenths... D-oh !!!!

Also note at the bottom that rim screws are NOT recommended for the radials. Jesse Lambert posted pics on the D/R board where his tires the beads got torn apart by rim screws...very dangerous situation.

I saw those pictures of Jesse's tire, did anyone ever find out if there was anything weird going on with that? Like the screws stripped, or not threaded into the bead? That's the only set I've seen anyone post about doing that.

Why would Drag Radials do it and not Slicks? Different bead construction?

The belts on a m/t drag radial run all the way to the bead like a street tire (I'm guessing that the screw are damaging the structure of the tire). On the hoosier d/r they stop @ or near the tread like a radial slick.
