What kind of alt mount for motor plate?

#1 Post by Homers442 » Tue Mar 16, 2010 7:26 pm

What kind of alt mount are you guys using with a motor plate? I have a BBc with CSR electric water pump and need to get a mount for the standard size alternator.I would like a mid mount on the passenger side. Any suggestion would be helpfull and pictures even better. Will also need a smaller pulley at the crank to keep the rpm's down at the alternator. What works well?

I don't know if this will help but S&W sells an alternator kit for use with a front plate.

Check here: http://www.swracecars.com/Files/pdf/CATpg47.pdf

Even though it mentions it's for a Camaro/ Nova, you may want to ask them if it will fit for your needs.

I don't have a front plate but my brackets are made by Alan Grove Components and they also may be able to help you.

Moroso part # 63833 is a pretty cool set-up for your CSR pump. Can be used to mount the alternator on either side.

Anything can always be hot-rodded.
I've included some different picks when I was doing my own,
however I could not use a stock type housing because the
diameter was just too big-so I just used the East Coast
Auto Electric alternator and bracket and modified the bracket
to suit me--everyone is different and sometimes you have to
work out of the box.

These were some pics on the net I used coming up with my own idea.

If you can live with it, the Shogun AC/DC generator/Altenator mounts up nicley on a plate.
