Hello everyone. I would like to introduce myself. My name is Kenny I'm married 50 yrs.old and live in the Rowlett, Tx (dallas suburb). Great site by the way, lots of very knowledgeble people, I've already learned a lot just lurking in the background. As you have probably guessed my car is a '84 camaro z28 clone. I have only had it since August. I bought it from the builder, it's a fresh build only a little over 100 miles he put on it plus (12) 1/8 mile passes I put on it so far. He built it as a pro street car. My plan is to turn it in to a full race car and race it this spring. My best 1/8 mile pass so far is 7.75 @ 90.1 on street tires. Here are some specs on the motor as of now.... .030 over 454 block with 427 (6223) forged crank, forged h-beam rods, kb 10.5 to 1 pistons, thru a built th400 w/manual reverse valve body and a trans brake to 9" with 4.86 gears. The first night I took it to the track I was able to weigh it ...3300#s with out me, heavier than I had hoped. Here are some of the modifications I've made to the car since my initial test runs. Gutted the doors and installed lexAN windows Installed alum door panels. Removed the glass windshield and replaced with lexan. Removed the passenger seat to make room for a bottle. Installed the delay box, removed the factory harness and completly rewired using the painless switch box, used led lamps and a presure switch in the brake line for the tail lights. installed moroso front drag springs lakewood 90/10 and tubular a-arms. Added a new mallory 250gpm and canister for the carbs ran a new -8an. Was planning on using the existing holley blue for the nitrous big shot, installed a BG 2-port regulator on both the nitrous and the carbs, non bypass.
I used the bypass on the mallory 250 and returned it to the tank, the pump is in the back of the car, starting to rethink this, very open to opinions. Also I'am really leaning towards pulling the motor out so I can replace the k member with a tubular and a pinto rack, I really want to get as much weight off as possible. I think the sphon tubular k member I've been looking at has an option to have an upper strut mount which I wondering if that would allow me to get rid of my inner fender wells, that would free up alot of space very much needed in the engine bay as well as reducing weight. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I'am going to post some pictures of where I'am at now...any and all opinions or critisism, tips or advise very much appreciated. Thanks in advance guys.
