Sunoco Race Fuel

#1 Post by MMAX » Fri Sep 12, 2008 5:12 pm

I recently won a barrel of Sunoco Standard 110 octane leaded race fuel. In the description it says it's good for compression ratios up to 13:1. My engine is a "pump gas" 582 with a comp. ratio of 10.5:1. Could I run this fuel in my engine safely? I've heard a couple of comments about my engine running cooler with race fuel and have read articles about the danger of cutting race fuel with pump gas. Any info on this topic would be appreciated.

Don't let it sit in your fuel bowls on thecarb if it will be a few days between startups. The Sunoco leaves a white residue in my carb. I run the carb dry and it 's fine...

I raced moto-X and cross country at the expert and pro level for 21 yrs. (Retired 4 yrs ago) When the four strokes bikes came around they had high compression engines which are not far from the performace for our v8 car engines. Yamaha had 12.5 and KTM had some higher (I road both in the late 90s). I would cut VP 108 with 93 octane 50/50. What that did was speed up the burn rate of the 108, helped the motor run cooler and kept it from detonation. I ran it that way in all my bike and now in my rac cars. ( cost was less that way) The mix can handle more timing which will help burn it off the slower burnning fuel.
I cut 104 and 93 now in my 525 c.i. motor I have never had a problem. I don't see anrthing wrong with mixing it 50/50. If you run n2o I would run it straight.
