Went to first index race at our track lots o fun.

Finally have a decent class to run in at our track. Our track is promoting index racing now with 3 races this year. 8.50, 10.0, 11.0, 12.0, & 13.0. I ran in the 10.00 class which has an $800 to win payout & $500.00 for second & $200 for semis. Unfortunetly I lost in the 1st round spinning. Have some work to do there. Did manage to get new 60' best of 1.38 & 1.39 in qualifying with a 9.90 et. Took 300 rpm out on launch for 1st round trying to slow it down a little & spun with a 1.69 60' and couldnt run him down 10.23 to my 10.44. My 60's & et's are better with new looser converter but I now have occasional spinning problems. Before with the tighter nitrous converter it would only go 3400 on brake & only 60' 1.50's but was more consistent & slower(10.10 best). Wondering if I need to launch at a lower rpm like 3000 instead of the 4500 I was using and let converter flash. The track prep that day was also marginal as some other guys that usually hook real good were spinning. Next race is Aug.8th hopefully I can get it sorted out for that one.
How much rear shock travel should I have with caltracs? I may be topping my shocks out. THEY ARE QA-1'S that have about 5" total travel.

Did also try switching from 3.5" magnaflows with 3' tailpipes after 4" x-pipe, back to 4" dynatech mufflers with no tailpipe just turndowns directly off x-pipe and lost 1.5mph on back to back test.

Lebanon Valley. Next race is Aug. 8th and then Aug 22, 23 for 1320x they are having it also. They're were only 9 cars is the 10.0 class & 4 in the 8.50 index with a thousand to win. I think they did shorten the purse for that class though with the short turnout. I think the word will be out for the next one. Someone is also promoting another heads up event for the 14th of aug kind of an arm drop type race at 50 bucks a pop. Not sure if that will happen , but it is on they're website. http://dragway.com/

Hell I checked it out, I didn't realize it was an NHRA track. I don't have an NHRA Lic. or a Chassis Certification for them. Oh well!
That's the one good thing about the IHRA! It's too bad that NHRA won't honor IHRA Lic. at their tracks.

Nice numbers! Was this using the same X-pipe? From that I'm gathering the mufflers are the problem? The smaller Magnaflows were faster, correct? Thanks for sharing! Lorne

Yes that was using the same x-pipe. 4" thru x then reduced. FWIW on a different day actually night the car did go its quickest and fastest 9.84 @ 137 with the 4" dynatechs with about 3' of tailpipe, but it was very cool that night. The #'s provided before were back to back within an hour using same x-pipe. Hope this helps.
I just came in from garage trying different combinations. With X and without, with 4" & with 3.5". Trying to find the right sound as this is still a street car. I can say that the dynatechs with 18" pipe in front of them off the header and turndowns sound really good. Extremely open header sounding loud, but good. The magnaflows are much quieter. I think I will end up with 4" magnaflows after the x-pipe with short tailpipes after. Now knowing how much the magnaflows quiet it down and how well they flow. The 3.5's make great power but dont have the right sound i'm looking for so I'll use them on the 496 i'm putting together for a buddy's elcamino & try the 4" mangaflow race mufflers. Anyone else use these and like them? Or what is everyone else using now. x or no x?
