Last chance to dial

#1 Post by Gus68 » Fri Oct 02, 2009 9:12 pm

Stupid question, but when do you have to have the dial in on your window?? When you pull into staging? Or up to the time you pull up to do your burnout? Could I have my wife write the numbers on just before I pull into the burn out box???? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

At some tracks, the track worker at the front of the staging lanes will call the dial-ins up to the tower on his radio. At most, the person in the tower reads the dial-in off your window when you pull into the water box.

Its very common for people not to put a dial-in on their car until they are ready to buckle up.

If you are trying to win rounds at a bracket race wait until u are pulling into the box so the other guy will not know your time. This way you get an advantage of them not knowing if you are faster or slower than they are dialed. Make sure that the time you have dialed is correct on the timing board before you prestage as you are stuck with what the tower lists after you prestage !

at our track there is a line that you must have it on before you cross.

I do it just before I get into the car to race.

Thanks for the replies!!!! Usually I put it on before I go the the staging lanes. I guess the reason I ask is because the last time i went I noticed guys seemed to be checking out my dial I never noticed that before. Of course I do this too!!! Also As the the rounds went on, it seemed that the track guy in the lanes was trying to match up 2 cars that had close dial-ins. I like having the faster guy catch me than having to run the other guy down, so I was HOPING NOT to be matched up with someone with a similar dial-in.

Some guys like playing the game with the dial ins. I just say, cut a good light, run the car consistently, put 'em on the trailer.
