Been real busy working on ol' Blue. It's getting ready to go to the chassis shop sometime in the next week or so for a 25.5/25.3 cage. Pretty much entirely stripped now, no wiring, no cage, no wheel tubs, etc. This is a partial trash box of steel that came out of it. We removed the trunk lid the other day and got 52 lbs out including all the bracing and hinges. I'm guesstimating it'll be 150 lbs or more lighter when she comes back out. I bet we got 5 lbs of old paint out of the trunk floor over the last couple nights lol.

Any idea how much these 25.5's are costing? My brother and I are getting ready to do our own in my 71. Just curious

im sure everyone is different. mine is complete 25.5 front to back c.m, motor plate ,mid plate ,complete 9", ladder bars, wheelie bars, engine limiters , stock quater lips welded back on and alot of little misc stuff 15k it was more money to cutout the old cage and start new but alot less aggravation and it looks awesome so far. john

Post some pics of your progress, I'd love to see how they do yours. We're going to do the top half of mine as a 25.3 and for now the bottom half 25.5 with the idea being to allow for possible upgrade to 25.3 down the road without too much pain.

As far as price goes, that depends a great deal on what exactly you're having done, how much you do yourself, etc. I haven't heard of anyone doing one for less than $3500 - just depends on what work is done.

I will see your trash box of removed weight.

And raise you a full steel front clip.

john could give you accurate numbers to the tenth of a pound.
but i would guess 250 to be close.
hood is 28.
fenders about that.
steering box was 17.
radiator with fan and water, 25ish?
and on....

those dang administrators, always jacking with a good post.

anyway, he is selling me short.
and the creativity about what little weight is going to be put back on. no rules against acid dipping or hole saws, gun drilled bolts, titanium everything.............o the list goes on and on.

How can you raise me a full steel front clip when you're gonna put it back on??

PS: I got 13 lbs off my front fenders, 9 lbs off the front firewall, 10 lbs off the rear one and 27 lbs radiator/fan

Ooops - maybe this will make more sense. That's what happens when you have too many buttons to click!
