New Best!

#1 Post by supernova » Thu Oct 21, 2010 6:20 pm

I went 5.642 at test and tune last night....... With a .082 size nitrous pill arrangement. All I did was change the rear shocks and the gear.
WoooHoooo Not far from 5.50's now.....

The season's over now so guess it doesn't matter. :smt005 :smt005 :smt005 :smt005 :smt005 :smt005

60' was 1.357. I don't know if you need shocks. Looking at the times your running that thing hauls.....

Track closed at 10:00 pm. My brother and I got there at 8:00 pm. I only got to make 2 runs, one with and one without nitrous.....
All I wanted to do is see if the shocks and gear made any difference and it did. Now we can start tuning this thing and see were it goes.

Now for the rest of the story:
They're thinking of changing the rule's again for next year. Removing the nitrous cap and making it a 5.30 cap class. (don't run under a 5.30) My pistons and block are already at there limit. I guess I will have to build a new short block this winter with a better block (Dart) and nitrous pistons if I want to go faster and stay with the crowd..

That blows! After all the work you put in to get your combo where it needs to be. Good luck and congrats on your new best.

Good job buddy, sucks about the motor though!

Add a set of 32 x 14 x 15 and you can get that 60ft down.... :smt005

Congrats on the good ET! Any of the changes we talked about help?

That really stinks if you end up having to tear back into the motor so quickly due to rule changes.

Craig, yep your info was a tremendous help. Thank you and thanks to everyone here that has traded info and knowlage on the DragStuff! This is a great place to belong to.........

Now that we have a good starting point to continue progressing foreword it will all change for next yr. So we'll do it again. I don't think it will be to bad, I only changing the block and pistons and maybe the cam for next yr. The rest is a given.

I'm hoping to make big changes too. I've got a couple guys interested in my Brodix 18X heads, intake, valvetrain, etc. If that stuff sells, I'm going to try to step things up significantly under the hood. The old combo had 5.30s in it I think but I'm going to need to run 5.teens to 5.20s next year. So I'm looking at building 4.90 to 5.0 power to leave me room to grow.

John, I can tall you this. The drag radial is not a foregiving tire if the combo is set up more like what you would want for a slick. I had my combo set up the way I had it on the last car thinking the tire wasn't going to be a issue. Boy was I wrong!

Lots learning to do yet. We may have gone this fast but It's not set up for the best passes. That was off the trailer with the 5.80 tune up in it from the last time out with bad shocks and the 4.30 gear. I left it alone to see what it would do. I knew the shock would help but never thought the gear would. I can throw some more at it on starting line and maybe get a tenth more out it. I think it has a 1.30 60' in it still.
