DRAGSTUFF NATIONALS CHECK IN.

#1 Post by Hitchcock » Sat Jan 01, 2011 12:03 pm

Ok, lets try and do this thing for real.

1 Member from Wichita here.

I picked up Dad and I's converter from Marty Chance the other day. And started talking about a possible event. We talked prices on getting his facality for a day, and the prices are not too terrible. Now I know this is very preliminary, but if we want to make it happen for 2011 its way past time to get the ball rolling. I know there are several members from the midwest, is there anyone from farther out that would be willing to make the trip to Springfield Mo? Chris, is texas to Mo. to much of a stretch for ya? He said that the track rental would have some track prep, timing and ticket shack, tower and concessions. Plus if we advertise the event, and other racers want to come and play, we can charge admission and we keep the gate fee's. So if we can get a few sponsors here and there... Without prices are between -100-200 depending on friday or saturday. I have done some digging on sponsors from the area, machine shops, car dealers and stuff like that.

So if some people are interested, lets have a discussion on a date, and explore the possibility of this as a possible location. If we decide that this is the track to use, and enough members are willing to make the travel, I will try and coordinate everything I can to get the ball rolling.

Okay, Hitch, here's a race for you - You think that Corvette will be ready before my Mustang?

BTW - the "DragStuff Ntl's" sounds like a good idea.

1277 miles for me. If my car is done I dont think I would be able to bring it that far but I would probably fly there for the event.
Someone would let me drive their car right?

I'd love to be there. Just depends on the timing of the event and what my finances look like.

What format are we looking at? Just testing and grudge racing or a heads-up shootout?

What are we looking at for the rental? About $2500?

Its right on 200 miles for me and I think I can make it. As far as format, why not a gruge / gamblers race and a quick 8 or 16 if there are enough cars.

I'm very open to suggestion for formats. I have never done anything like this before, so any help or ideas, suggestions are welcome. I figure if a bunch of members are paying rental fees everyone has a say.

I want to do this. The later in the year the better though. with the holiday's out of the way, and the tax refund to soon be on it's way..... I'll be moving soon.

If we combine something like this with Friday night test n' tune, we could probably do it a lot cheaper. Guess is really depends on how many are going to attend, what we've going to do etc. Anytime we can combine it with something else going on at the track, it'll save a lot of $$. Is a Friday out of the question for those that have to travel?

To me thats what paid vacation days are for. Friday is 1000.00 cheaper at Marty's track.

If we do it during TNT, it would be cheap, if we do it before TNT starts, there's probably going to be a certain cost involved with that having workers there early, etc.

I've had very good luck with track managers letting us in early on test-n-tune nights for no additional charge for the Nova Gathering. The insurance is the same no matter how many cars go down the track or how long the racing is that night. That's one of the biggest cost drivers for a track.

Track prep on test-n-tune nights sometimes isn't the best. Just depends on the track and the management. So that's one downside of doing it on a tnt night.
