Ok so here's the deal!

Ok so here's the deal!
I had tranny problems the last time out. Lost high gear on the shift. Low and reverse is fine.
Last week I get this call from Hughes where the converter came from and the guy tells me I might have the wrong converter. Hmmmmmm your not going to beleive what he told me. He asked I would take the tranny out so to get to the numbers on the converter. At this point I didn't tell he that the tranny had an issue. I took the tranny out an looked at the numbers on it and noticed that they were NOT the numbers for my converter
I give Hughes a call to forward the info and find out that the converter they had sent me was for a 450-500 hp street motor for a t-350 trans. It's a off the shelf peace for a warmed over street motor. Man if that thing would have blew up going down the track.
Hughes is going to make it right I will have my trans guy look at it and tell me what parts are bad and Hughes said they will stand behind it and replace the part for free. They are also sending my converter back free of charge ready for the new combo.
That's the deal! Can you beleive it?

I would be chapped. Any chance you killed the sprag/convertor and there is nothing wrong with the trans? What about loss of fuel, time, entry fees, etc. going to the track?
I am not really sure what the question is, but I am pretty sure the answer is Big Block.

What he said!
I would be pissed!
At least they are going to make it right..
If it wasn't for bad luck you and me wouldn't have any...
Re: Ok so here's the deal!
No sure. Low and reverse work fine. It's got to be internal the tranny......ytnova wrote:I would be chapped. Any chance you killed the sprag/convertor and there is nothing wrong with the trans? What about loss of fuel, time, entry fees, etc. going to the track?

That's a lot more than some of the other companies would do for you. Most of them would say, "oh well, you should have made sure it was yours. Now send it back and pay us for it since you broke someone elses converter."

Strange turn of events for sure.
Now, start to think about how it's gonna run with a healthy trans and the proper torque converter!!!
Look out!

Re: Ok so here's the deal!
Hell Hitch, It hasn't made a full pass yet with all the trouble I'm having with this crap. I've had it out twice with the wrong converter and it has been a waist of time and money. I bet I have $500.00 in testing with the wrong converter.Hitchcock wrote:Man, thats some crazy stuff right there. Re: Ok so here's the deal!
I think the cost and waste of my time doing some testing would piss me off more than anything else. Transmissions do break, and maybe the convertor thing was just a oversight, but with the cost of fuel, both race and pump gas, entry fees, and your time pulling the convertor again for a mistake that you had nothing to do with but paid your hard earned money for, I would still be pissed. Please let us all know how this turns out, I think how they take care of you will tell us what type of company hughes really is. So far it looks as if they are stepping up to the plate.

Wow buddy, that really sucks but at least they are willing to make things right!
That should ease the pain a little, but hopefully they'll stand behind their word if there is any tranny damage done because of this.
But we are all human and we do make mistakes and I bet the guy that sent you the wrong piece, more then likely drives a nova. Sorry, I just had to say something.......better days ahead.

Those who think they know it all have no way of finding out they don't.........
