Ok, I was able to get the cooling issues taken care of in time to saddle up for the NorCal Invasion event here in Sacramento. Rob (chpcamaro) brought his beautiful 68 Camaro up and we spent the day Saturday fighting the heat and making runs down the track. Sunday was a bust because the event organizer bailed on promised payouts due to low turnout and dumped all the class races in with the bracket racing crowds. Rob really got screwed as he was in first place in B Gas and in position to take home the $750 payout when it all fell apart. I was in the money as well at the end of qualifying in C Gas (third place) though I broke doing test-and-tune runs Saturday nite. Welcome to racing, I guess.
It was fricking *HOT* !!!! Damn near 100 degrees out and I don't even want to hazard a guess as to the temps inside the cars sitting in the staging lanes. I lost almost 14 lbs over the weekend, sweating it out in the car and around the pits. It's funny though, how all that heat and discomfort just goes away once you light the wick in the water box and then roll up to the lights
Here's a great HD video someone posted.

Below are some photos I grabbed from the video link above, they turned out pretty well. The one shot shows my best run of the weekend, a 9.89. Unfortunately, my distributor went tits up before I could get any better runs out of it. Again, welcome to racing.
I really like this one - this is Saturday night, sitting at the head of the staging lanes, waiting to roll into the water box. This photo makes it look nice and cool, doesn't it ? It was prolly 130 degrees inside the car. Thats the starter standing next to me.
One of my launches during the day - I need to add another click to that right rear shock and dial in some more 2-Step RPM for the tbrake.
And my best run for the weekend - not what I'd hoped for, but I'll settle for it
And this is what capped off Saturday nite - you'll note that this distributor post was blown out of the cap from the *inside*. This is what I get for not using Loctite on the rotor hold-down screws. It got *really* loud when, at around 7,000 rpm, the distributor was spun about 80 degrees retarded when the rotor caught the inside of the cap. Big boom. Lucky I still have a blower on the motor. Needless to say , I was down at that point. Live and learn.

Re: NorCal Invasion - Aug 27/28
yep saturday was a fun day but when they decided to screw us on sunday that was ******. i was sorry we had to leave so soon but i wasn't a happy camper with about a 1000 mile round trip drive and lots of money spent to run this class and things weren't handled right.
they group all the gas classes and the bracket cars together, i even made the comment why don't they just split all the money between all the classes and that way they would be just lower all the pay outs but they wouldn't have nothing to do with it the track manager want the money to go to his buddies that all run brackets. now i have to really put the blame on the person putting this on he should of been there and been making the decissions.
well any ways it was fun hanging with harry at his home town track and the drive was fun and it was nice to get away for home for the weekend

mark knows us very well as we know him lol i have gave him a ear full at a few events. he is trying to make a good event but he needs to stop letting other people take over his events and needs to know that when you post something you need to be ready for things not to work out in your favor and have the money set a side in these cases or tell everyone up front that he has to have a set amount of entries. well all in all it could of ended better but it was fun and harry ended the night in a bang literaly lol

Some great passes and beautiful cars.I've had a couple msd caps explode in dirt cars years ago and we discovered a couple 1/8 inch holes around the bottom of the cap lets the gasses out of the cap, since we started doing that we've had zero explosions.Good luck to all.
