Well I did get to go to the track on Sunday. I left the tune up as was and made 2 motor passes to scrub the new tires in. It ran it's best ever, 6.20's.
So I turned on the bottle with the tune the same as last time. Made 2 hits and it started raining again. It did go 5.90 at 120 mph and me stepping off of it.

I can tell it needs more power right off the line and I can turn it up a bunch.

Good to see you got to get back out again! 120 mph ought to be somewhere around a 5.80 or mid 5.70's right?

It was fun to get the kick in the ass for sure..:-)

First off let me say that it was run with the last drag radial tire tune up in it and it shows in the video. It looks lazy as crap off the line but was to be expected. Now that we've had time to look at all the data I found that I can hit this new set up with a hell of a lot more and have alot more to throw at it.

The video hit was with a .082 pill arrangement and at 30% hit on the progressive controller. Timing is set down to be safe and can be move up now that I have some good data to work with.

It's only going to get faster from here..............

Hey John,
We found that the nitrous shut off for .3 in the first half of the track and came back on. So there's the 5.90 for you. It might have done a 5.80 or better if the nitrous stay on. It's fixed already.
I still have a converter problem though. On nitrous the rpm only droped 450 rpm's. Not good.

No doubt there's a bunch yet to improve, still not a bad MPH at all on a lazy pass. Let the tweaking begin!

hey supernova,

what rpm did you cross the line at on that 120mph pass.

i suspect that you might have a lot of torque converter slip

example, if you have a 28" tire, 3.73 gears and crossed at 6500rpms, at 120mph, thats 21% slip. ouch

8% slip which is decent, would have you crossing at a mere 5800 rpms.

Best converter man in the business and contributor to our beloved DragStuff forum, Marty Chance will work on other brands for you. Keep that in mind if it's still not right.

Tight isn't always right when it comes to converters - Lot more to it than just what the slippage is, more than likely that 25% will continue to tighten up down track if you ran it out the back.

What's it flashing to, and what's the drop at the shift?

X2 on Marty in the Converter Forum, he'll give you some advice even if it ain't his stuff.

WOW...the famous Mike Peters makes a special guest appearance.

He must like you Chris :smt002 but he does make a point, maybe Marty can give you a hand.

Isn't this Hughes third time fixing it?
Those who think they know it all have no way of finding out they don't.........

Running it out the back it's finishing rpm is 6800+. And the drop is only 400 rpm's on the shift. The flash is 5100. And remember this is on a soft tune up.

I have already talked to Marty.

The GM of Hughes is now involved and they realize that they have completely missed the converter tune up for my combo. They are in the process of building a new converter and shipping it to my today. If this doesn't work then they will refund all money's spent and l will go somewhere else to get a converter. I can't say any more about the issue for other than that I have had numerous phone conversations with the GM about the issues i'v had with their product and how unsatisfied I am.
My combonation should be running a whole lot faster than it has so far.
