New Switch Panel

#1 Post by John_Heard » Sat Jan 21, 2012 2:40 pm

Got as far as I can on the engine, waiting on parts, still waiting for the car to come back from paint so I started working on electrical stuff. This is the switch panel Chris got me for Christmas. Finally got around to painting it.

Hate to tell you John, but your missing a whole bunch of toggle switches.... :smt005

Nice looking panel.

Are they fused?
Those who think they know it all have no way of finding out they don't.........

Boom = Nitrous Test buttons aka Bang Buttons, they test activate Nitrous stages.

Notice the big bag of switches Bruce? Just getting started there. Most of these will connect to Nitrous Dave's Performance Electronics relay panel, and yes I'll put a fuse on the feed for them.

No, it's a switch box designed for a Pro Mod, I won't be running that many stages on my car.

Thanks John. I'm gonna need to step up to a switch box in mine, but it'll go with a complete new wiring harness and I'm not eager to dive into that quite yet.

Thanks, I thought it turned out looking ok. Need to figure out a way to hold it to the roll cage now but that'll have to wait till the car is here so I can see where it's going to go.

Hey John,

Don't know if you'd like this idea but when I had an overhead panel, I just used an "L" bracket on each side, two hose clamps, and some thin rubber that I put between the rollbar and clamps. Face the folds of the bracket towards the inside on the switch panel, this way the clamps are hidden.

Very simple and cost way less then those fancy billet clamps.

Looks real good.

Isn't trying to keep all the toggles in line and also trying not to scratch the face plate, real fun?

Hose clamps? Really? :smt018 Hanging out on this forum with cool football players hasn't taught you anything about style points, has it? Next thing we know is you'll be wanting to put white stripes on the Camaro. ht:

Is it a no no to drill through the roll bar?

You could weld a couple of bracket bolt combos to the top of the box and drill two holes in the hoop. This way you could slide the bolts through the bar and put the nuts on behind the bar. You should be able to hide the brackets above the box, and it would be just a couple of nuts to get it down. :smt102
