Getting ready to make some door panels for the hot rod, and I'm wondering if someone makes some chrome trim to put on the door panel. Let's say .25 to .375 wide, length of door panel. I'd like to find something that has studs, or something to attach from the back. What I'm wanting to do is join the upper metal piece with the lower panel bolting them together at the seam.

Any bright ideas? I could make something out of some Aluminum strips if they were thick enough maybe.

The only downside is, it's adhesive and I know you were looking for stud mount.

That's not quite what I'm looking for. What I want is something that screws from the backside, not adhesive. Just thought I'd make something with a little Bling and have it join the two panels together.

If you want to go through all the hassle and cost we use 1/2 round brass for custom moldings, drill and tap the flat side for 4-40 screws and have them chromed when its time for install loctite the screw in and cut the head off to make the stud.

I've kicked few ideas around something like that. Still haven't come up with anything simple yet.

Ok, we use 1/4" stainless steel tubing, could you get some of that and D&T that and then bend it with a tubing bender?

At least you wouldn't have to get it chromed? We get our stuff from McMaster-Carr in 6' section.

I'm thinking now of getting some 1/8 thick aluminum and using that stick on chrome trim over the top of it to hide the screws. Cutting 1/4" stainless tubing in half would be a big pain in the butt.

Speaking of Camaro's, I think it's 69's have a piece of trim kinda like what I'm looking for.. I think. But that stuff isn't cheap, and this is a low buck deal or I would have just bought new panels.

Link got screwed up, what was it the upper trim for a Camaro door panel? Need to do some measuring see if those might work. Right now I'm going to have to stop until I get the car back so I can see how some of this stuff fits. Kinda working blind right now.

67-69 had a long piece of trim molding that seperated the panel from the steel top, maybe you could use that?

Does your car have those? Do me a favor and measure the front and back lengths sometime would ya?

I don't have them, I didn't put them on but I'll get you a general idea of how long they are.

You are just talking about the straight piece, correct?

A rough guess would be 36" for the door and 12" for the rear panel but I'll get you a better number tonight.

Yes, the straight ones. I think the Camaro doors are shorter, and I know the back panel is quite a bit shorter.

Thinking about maybe using velcro. Dunno, I'll figure out something.
