Tested on Saturday!

#1 Post by supernova » Mon Feb 27, 2012 9:16 am

As some of you know I'v made some changes over the winter and had a chance to test. A cam, rocker set up, belt drive and tire change. The cam made a differance in how the motor is working. Going to the 29.5" tire form the 28" without changing the gear probbily didn't help much but the car did pick up .2 for 5.7's to 5.5's. It only picked up .05 in the 60" and 2 mph over all. Ran out of time and will have to go back out for more testing.
I pilled the nitrous system up to a 110n pill arangement and put it in at 100% on the hit. The track would not hold the tire at the far end. The only pass I made at that set scared the crap out of me at around the 550' mark when the tack let go. Boy shit happens fast out that far out. I saved it but holly crap my life flashed before my eyes. :-)
Thinking about changing the gear to a 4.30's as I wasn't shifting to high gear until past half track and going through at only 6500 on the tach. I would like to see the rpm's higher at the end.

I sure wouldn't change that gear. I'd leave it alone and keep working on the tuneup with the big jets in it.

Even though you didn't get to make a full pass with the 110's, how did the incrementals look?

Sorry Chris, but at least the tranny/ converter held together this time :thumb:

Do you really think by going up from 28" to 29.5" that would make that much of a difference?

You guys are 1/8 mile, right?

The incrementals were better but not by much I'll have to look at the slips again to see what the differance was. I really would have thought that the 60' was going to pick more although it has now run the fastest 60' it has ever run.
The motor is happy're with the new cam. I still think the converter has a lot to be desired.

Bruce, I think the bigger tire hurt more than it helped. Bigger tire, less final drive gear ratio, harder to leave the starting line.

You got the right gear in it, I'm telling ya... Converter may be off, or something else but that gear will work.

I still think the converter is holding it back.

Well then maybe talk to Marty to see what he could do for you.

We all know his stuff is good.

You gave Hughes enough chances....

It looks like it flashes to 5400 and it dropped from 7200 to about 6000 on the shift.

That don't sound all that bad, it'll loosen up some more when you turn it up. Did you get any video?

Yes. It's not very good and starts after the hit. I'll post it tonight. My brother needs a lesson on how to shoot video.
