#1 Post by jmarkaudio » Wed Nov 21, 2012 5:07 pm

Here is the links for this years Carb Challenge at BLP. There will be a mic outside the dyno room for interviews, so you will hear a little interaction this year.

Small Block Saturday and Sunday

Big Block Monday and Tuesday.

There are two fuels used for each engine, VP113 for the small block, Rockett 118 for the big block, then methanol for both.

The small block will be the same as last year with a slight change in RPM range, 4000-8000. 430 SBC Mullins Racing Engines built with 14 to 1 and 23˚ heads.

The Big Block is a different animal this year, Steve Schmidt will be supplying a 15 to 1 582 with the new SR-20 Brodix heads and intake, estimated to make 1175 HP. Pull range will be 4500 to 8000.

Yes, I have a 2.400 billet carb I'll run again on the big block. The intake is conventional this year, will be skewed less by the variety of tops used on the Dart Box Ram last year. Small block is essentially the same engine with a small change in RPM for the pull. I have two carbs I have to chose for that one... They will also run methanol carbs on both, with everything I've had to deal with this year setting up methanol carbs was not doable. I had open heart surgery in May, took a chunk of time out of my year. And getting my 461 ci SB2 back together and in the car took a chunk, but I'm happy with the results there as well. 871 HP with a modified 1450 QFX body on Q16, with a borrowed driver it ran 7.58 @174 at 1850 lbs.

All the rest of the info is in the link below.
