logging A/F ratio
Is there a recommended method to log air/fuel ratio?
I see Innovate Motorsports offers a LC-1 stand alone A/F sensor with analog outputs that they claim can work with most any data logger.
Any thoughts on the most effective/easiest method?

BTW Randy,
I used the engine/driveshaft rpm loggin this weekend which worked flawlessly...very pleased with the ease of use. I also learned quite a bit on the cars performance in just 3 passes. Thanks!

Most of the aftermarket A/F kits have an analog output that is compatible with data loggers. We have several customers using the Innovate LC1. The Daytona Twintec kit also works well, (Warren Johnson has 8 of them on his prostock car). Daytona has a new "Dual" kit for a sensor in each collector.
The kit from Daytona is easier to calibrate and a has simpler installation.
If you get a kit, call me and I will go through the setup and calibration with you. The shop is 405-495-0454, and my cell is 405-923-3978

Hey Todd why don't you be the guinea pig and try one of those Daytona systems out? I've been looking at that one also.

Well, I looked more into the Daytona system and they don't include the O2 sensor where the LC-1 does. The single channel Daytona is $277.50 and the dual is $420.
The LC-1 is $199 and I believe I can get a bit of a discount from Summit with my NHRA license through the pro Shop Discount program. I'm gonna call tomorrow to see.
Randy, I'll likely be calling you as well to get the analog cable as well as any tips on hookup/setup. Another race this coming weekend and again, would be nice to add some more data recording capabilities. :)

Hmmm...after downloading the directions, the Daytona system does seem much simpler connection wise.
One thing I don't care for with the LC-1 is the box is to be mounted under the car. That just doesn't seem like a good environment for an electronic device.
The Daytona single system is looking better right now even though it's more costly. Gonna make a call tomorrow and see how quickly they can get me one.

The WEGO2 showed up yesterday and I had it installed quite easily. Thanks for the recommendation and quick shipping.
I just went out and programmed the logger to accept the analog signal. no real problems there.
I just wanted to check to make sure I calibrated the channel properly.
I renamed the units to AFR, then set the 0 voltage to 10 and the 5 voltage to 20.
In the WEGo paperwork it states the output is AFR = 10 + (2 x Vout)
Which would be 10 + (2 x 0) = "10" for zero volt
and 10 + (2 x 5) = "20" for 5 volt.
Is this correct? i fired the car up turned the data logger "Display" on and watched the AFR which seemed to work, although it looks like the engine is idling lean at 13.8 to 14.0. lol.
Just wanted to make sure everything looks Ok with how I set up the channel logging of AFR.

Todd, where did you put your sensors at? In the collector or downstream some?

My headers had the Evac tubes at the 9:00 and 3:00 position when i first installed them. They simple didn't work and they had formed small cracks around the welds, so I cut them out and put the Os sensor bungs where the evac tubes were. I purchased the single WEGO2 kit as Randy and I spoke about it and likely having two sensors wouldn't really tell that much more than the single. Also, if leaded gas truly kills sensors in 10 hours like the manufacturer states, I'd rather replace one $87.50 sensor than two. lol.
Computech data pro 45 will do 8 egts and 2 O2 sensors. I did some of the testing for the 02 sensor for them and it worked great. They used a Wego unit so if you have one you should be able to use it. I also beleive they have the hook up to use the daytona units. We run NOS and can run 6.70's (in 1/4) on two stages and the sensor has never failed. The data recorder does all the calulations and graphs it in a/f ratios. Let me know if you need some info or pricing.
