Redneck Performance
Has anyone here ever used a REDNECK PERFORMANCE trans/converter? I see them selling a TH350 w/Brake and 9.5" converter for about 1350. My dad needs a transmission/converter, this doesn't look like a bad deal.
I can't wait for race season, this has got to be the year.
Re: Redneck Performance
The pontiac folks have used many redneck convertors, mostly good things i have heard.
I run continental and many think they are close to equivalent in performance althought the rednecks seem to slip a tad more.

Re: Redneck Performance
One of the local guys bought a redneck last year? He didn't like it, don't recall much more info other than that. One of those you get what you pay for deals I guess.

Re: Redneck Performance
i have known two guys that bought the same set up from redneck, one loved the trans/converter set and one liked the trans but thought the convertor was sh!t. If it going in a lower hp street car they will most likely be just fine but like john said you get what you pay for.
Re: Redneck Performance
I took a chance on a Redneck spragless nitrous converter a few years back and wasn't happy at all with it. I think it being spragless was a big part of it. The car would 60' well, but no top end.
I sold it to a friend who seems to like it.

Re: Redneck Performance
i'm currently running one in my car, but haven't used nitrous on it too much to really test its durability. I guess i'll find out sometime this year when i get my car done. It seemed to loosen up over time, so i sent it back to get it checked. They said there was nothing wrong with it but i gave them the details on my car/engine combo and told them what i wanted, and they hit it on the nose. I'm just not too sure how much abuse it'll take when i put the big jets in..

You get what you pay go with a Chance. Top notch if you ask me Ive got one in my car and were making alot more power than we thought and Marty just tightened it up for me this week. Stand up guy and great service!
Re: Redneck Performance
Have had a 4000 stall for about 5-6 years no issues bracket car 10.90 1.40 sixty foot. replaced from a TCI and it never ran more smooth.
I will probably use them again since we have had NO issues.
PRICE is not always what you get NEVER use that analogy EVERYONE makes mistakes and if it is touched by a human it will always have that chance of defects!!! period...:) lol
We build custom street strip rear diffs and our goal is to give you the most for your money ... do not judge a book by its cover either...:)
I have had axles and parts from the big diff builders and NOT one MOSER, STRANGE, Currie, MW etc. have been 100% with parts, quality, customer service, or shipping issues. Just that HUMAN QUALITY WE ALL HAVE!
Do the best you can with research and take your best guess.

I also have been running there converter for years with no issues. I have broken 4 th400's from cases to thrush bearings, built by someone else, it seams the only thing I have not broken is my redneck converter. The next time I have any issue with the trans, I will be going to a Redneck Powerglide. They build one for 1200HP with a custom built converter for $2200.
Customer service is good as well.

Re: Redneck Performance
I have a redneck 4500...about 3-4 years old...ran great on my old nitrous motor....little tight for my all motor setup. I cant seem to get the stated stall out of it but it has been problem free so I would say good deal for the price.
BTW one of my mechanics ran a 5000 redneck in his BBC th400 w/brake big tire nova for 2-3 years (10.20 car) then gave it so another dude that ran it in another BBC big tire carf or a year then killed it...redneck took care of it for him.

Re: Redneck Performance
Customer service, I bought a 4500 stall for my 400cu all motor years ago, now I am running a 427cu turbo charged engine with a 98mm turbo system, well as you can guess I am now blowing through the converter, ( but its held up) in talked to RedNeck Performance we went over my new engine combination in detail, he gave me a code # to put on the converter and said send it back and they will rebuild it for my new combination and a new stronger front cover must also be installed.
The part I really like, I pay the shipping and ship my old converter back and they totally rebuilt it for $125.
How can you beat that.
