 Post subject: lowering blocks

Is it okay to use lowering blocks to adjust your ride height on the back of a leaf spring car, that will be used for drag racing? I have seen alot of 9 second cars that do run them. Other racers say not to. I know there are alot of fast cars on here with leaf springs. Does anyone use them?

I've got some 1" solid aluminum ones on mine. Haven't had any issues with them yet.

It hard to lower a leaf spring car. Shortening the shakles or flatening out the leaf spring just doesn't get the ride hight you want. I started using blocks about 10 yrs. ago and have had no problems with them. I us only solid blocks and I haven't used anything thicker than an inch.

I cut them and get them ready for use. If you would like a set just let me know. $45.00 to your door.

Well there's an excellent place fo a tranny cooler...stealing. Would it not be a good idea to do 2" blocks. :scratch:

Seeing those pics make me wish I went with a longer rear end and more backspace on my rims. My calipers will have to be moved before I lower it or they'll be too close to the frame rails.

I run a fast leaf spring car, I dont run lowering blocks (I like my car tall), but as long as you have a good anti-twist bar setup there is no reason you cant run lowering blocks.
