Gear retard, 7531 box ?

#1 Post by supernova » Sun Aug 08, 2010 4:58 pm

I'm having tire spin problems going into high gear ( 2 speed glide) and need some help with setting up a gear retard for it. I have a 7531 box.

Thanks

It senses gear changes automatically. So, leave your first gear graph with no timing pulled, and change your second gear graph to pull timing at the RPM's your having tire spin at.

It's spinning the tires at the gear change. I'm not sure how to set it up.

First change your last gear to 2.
Image

Now go to the Gear Retard Curve screen or box, and select Show, and then Trace 2.
Image

Then make Trace 2 Active
Image

Then right click on the screen and select Add Dot.
Image

Now you'll have a dot wherever you right clicked at. It shows RPM on the left, and the amount of timing you want to pull on the right. I dropped it at 6800 because in your other topic you're saying the motor drops to 6880 on the gear change.
Image

Now left click on the dot or RPM/timing tag, and drag it to the RPM and retard amount you want. I pulled it down to 6800 and 5.0 degrees. You can change the RPM in 100RPM increments, and the timing in 0.1 degree increments.

You can add as many dots and pull them to wherever you want.

I hit Print Screen on the keyboard, paste it into a program (I use Paint), save it to the computer, and then either upload it through the site, or post it on a photo hosting site like Photobucket, Flickr, Facebook.........

I forgot to ask, you do have the dark blue wire hooked up to your transbrake switch? This runs the launch rev limit and also resets a bunch of things to their inital position, including the gear indicator. And the retard you program in for each gear is added on top of any retard you have in the box for that specific RPM.

Does your keyboard have a FN or function key? You may have to press it and the print screen key at the same time.

I do not have a FN key. The dark blue wire is hooked up to the trans brake. The light blue wire is hooked up to the line lock. everything works like it should....

This is a real handy little freebie tool for doing screen shots.

That'll work. It's real easy to play with once you've done it a time or two. And you've likely done it three times now. :smt003
