Re: HRU new projects
Definitely very nice.
Tig, got any shots of a small tire, stock suspension Nova you've done? I'd like to get some ideas for upgrading my cage with a few more bars.

Big tires like big motors and vice versa...
.
Count on little tire race cars drivers probably drink light beer, and get out of the shower to pee as well.

Nothing more entertaining than going to the track and watching a big tire car lay down a high 12 second pass...

Your truck looks like it ought to run in the 9's or there abouts? It runs 12s?

Re: HRU new projects
We are working on that,,,, Its a little engine, 355, and we had thrown together from spare parts. Now we think we are on the right track with the upgrades we are making. Its best et was low 11s. In the last 6 months we have upgraded the crank, all the valve train, all the fuel system, the TH 400 is now in Hitchs Vette and I have gone to a powerglide and NCRC 6500 stall. With the old frtame out and the tube chassis going in we hope the weight will be around 2300-2400. My 355 starts out with a Howards Track Smart crank, all Comp Cams valve train, 684-660 lift, duration @50 278-284 rpm range 4500 to 7800. Brodix track1 heads, 2.08 intake valves, 1.60 exhaust. mild port job. Eagle 5.7 H beam rods and JE dome pistons, about 13.1 compression. 950 HP holley on a Super Victor intake that is port matched. 2 inch custom built headers. We are currently building a tube chassis for the 59 Apache to drop the weight to 2400-2450 pounds with me in it. Powerglide with a brake, 6500 rpm Chance converter, 9 inch ford rear end with all Strange parts, 35 spline, 5.29 gears.

Sounds like you're on your way... Seriously not slamming anyone in particular with the 12 second comment, I just don't like poser's - the guys with the Big Block w/Blower Twin Carbs, 14x32 slicks, wheelie bars, etc. that can't outrun a box stock Camaro.

John, you forgot about being on alcohol also. We have our fair share of them here also.
I am not really sure what the question is, but I am pretty sure the answer is Big Block.

Then you got the other end of the spectrum, like my friend Keith Lopez's Mustang. Drives it in the gate towing a trailer with his tools and slicks, lays down low 5 second passes, then loads the trailer back up and drives it home.

Re: HRU new projects
I knew you wernt picking on the 59, when we first did all the body mods, it would run a scalding 13.45. We had to do something. At the time it was just a street cruiser. So we would throw a few parts at a time in to see what worked. I knew all along it needed more $$$$$$. It would baffle the tech guys who didnt know the 59, when they would ask how quick I was planning on running, looks fasted than it really is, I got a few Thats ALL???? responces.John_Heard wrote:Sounds like you're on your way...
