Light weight headlights

Light weight headlights
Anyone know who makes the light weight headlights that'll fit our Novas and Camaros? I hear glass ones are 2.5 lbs each. If I could find 4 lbs there, I'd probably buy some of the plastic ones if they aren't crazy expensive.

This place operates about 15 miles to the north of me. Can't vouch for the quality though...
Also, could you cut the back of your markers off...and just bolt in the lenses? Or do all the marker lights have to work too?

Re: Light weight headlights
Check ebay for 7" Headlights like http://goo.gl/FdzVF - I "think" those are the plastic type.

Its hard to know for sure which ones are plastic. Hopefully the seller can tell me.
Thanks.

Re: Light weight headlights
I wish they made some that looked like stock, no fancy HID stuff, just plastic headlights. Theres a bunch on there often called Tri-Bar, which give the lights a European look.
OBTW, those plastic ones if they are like the ones I have seen have a much larger section on the back where the wires go. I'm not sure it they would require changing the buckets or not, it's kind of hard to tell. Might ask them if they are a direct bolt on, or if the bucket will need opened up.

Re: Light weight headlights
I wonder how much weight I could take out if I got rid of the buckets too.
Maybe mount some LEDs on some plexiglass and use some plastic spacers to position them out from the core support the proper distance.

Re: Light weight headlights
Not too much weight in the buckets really, they are quite thin. I didn't even bother drilling holes in them when I was making my new mounts.

Not worth the effort then. Good to know.

Re: Light weight headlights
Well the Ebay seller said the lenses are plastic but had no clue what they weigh and would only offer to tell me the weight of them once the package was weighed at UPS. Clueless.

Re: Light weight headlights
Gotta remember those guys aren't selling them for that reason. My plan is next time I have to buy a headlight I'll get some instead of buying glass replacements.
Roger on here has some in his Chevy II, maybe we can talk him into taking them out and weighing them lol.

Mine weighed 1.2 lbs each. You can buy the pigtails for the 9004 (i think those are the right bulbs) from o'riellys in the electrical section.

Re: Light weight headlights
So around 2 lbs for about $32 or so. I don't think I'll do that until I need a new bulb.
