Never trust a vette guy.....

Hey John,

This goes back some time but did you ever find a plastic headlights for your car?

I need some new headlights and heard that a headlight for a VW will work but can't find anything info on that.
Those who think they know it all have no way of finding out they don't.........

No, I'm not buying them till I need to replace one.

You can find them on ebay, look under "7" TRI BAR LIGHT HEADLIGHTS", I believe most of these are plastic, and some you can tell for sure where it shows the backside of them. I'd prefer to find some that look regular without the Tri bar thing, but not sure if they make those in plastic.

Here's some of those - http://www.gearheadworld.com/store/Ligh ... 74C35.aspx

What's weird is these are clearly plastic on the backside, but it says Glass lenses, which to me looks like they are plastic also? Regardless, I don't think we're talking hardly any weight here between regular glass and plastic ones. Maybe a lb at best?

I agree with you, not sure I like the look of those tri bars.

I'm going to see if I can find anything out about the VW 7" headlights that I was told were plastic.

Hopefully they don't have the tri bar?

thanks

Bruce

After I painted mine, I was advised by a pro to put the ding/scratch in it. Otherwise by some higher means, every shopping cart, tree branch, etc would be attracted to it...and it would get scratched anyway. LOL

LOL! I have guy's that during test and tune would let me run alone. I wasn't sure for a long time why they kept backing out of the water box until I finally asked one day. I was told that my car is so ugly that they were afraid of it scratching they're cars somewhere down track.   Hahahahahahaha!

Chris,

Your car is not ugly, we're just blind to it's beauty :smt004

John,

I was just looking at those pictures again and your car looks great.

Any chance you can push it out and get some pictures of it in the sunlight?

Where's the guy been that made your car look beautiful? He hasn't been around much?

Thanks - Right now it's up on jackstands, so probably won't push it out for a while. Looking forward to bolting some parts on this weekend.

Robert shows up on here from time to time, he's pretty busy.

John those tri bar lights usually have glass lenses I put a lot of them on the street rods and they have an H4 bulb in them I never weighed them but I doubt they are lighter at all maybe even heavier.

Weighed her last night, 1725 lbs with 65% on the rear. Of course that's without any trim, engine, glass, etc. Looks like it picked up around 10 lbs on the nose which would be from the paint on the hood, firewall, etc. that wasn't there before. I'm guessing the paint job added approx. 20 lbs, far better than I expected.

It's hard to compare exactly as the rear wheels / tires are different - but that wouldn't have changed the front weight.

Here's a link to some headlights w/ plastic lenses. The chrome bullit option states it does not have the tri-bar design.

Anything else you need Princess? :smt003
