WoooooHoooooo!!!! 3656 lbs

#1 Post by supernova » Thu Jun 21, 2012 12:05 pm

After resetting the ladder bars and playing around with the front and rear shocks we decided to scale the again with full fuel and nitrous bottle. I took the 50 lbs out of the back that I had put in (is not needed now after resetting the bars).
True weight is 3656 lbs with me in it.
I used to be upset at how fast the car has gone but knowing how much it weights I'm not so upset about now. Really truth be known, 5.60's at this weight is impressive.

The reason I'm going back over this is I'v had a hard time getting the car to leave the starting line. It's a lot of weight to move and the ladder setup was not helping. I took the car over to a friends shop and we spent 4 hrs going over everything and resetting the ladder bars. I had it all wrong for how heavy the front of my car is. He tells me it should pick up the front and hold it up long enough now to make a difference in the 60'. It needed more positive angle.

So out we go tomorrow night. I hope it helps. I'd like to see it pick up some more before taking weight out of it this winter.

Results to come!

positive angle meaning the pickup point of the ladder bar is higher, or lower?

The car alone weighs over 3400 lbs, I'm 250 lbs. if I lost 50 lbs which is what I need to loose the car with me in it would still be over 3600 lbs.
Hmmmmm, still weighs a lot no mater how you look at it.

Wow!! I wouldn't have guessed it was that heavy either. What is the min weight for the class you want to run? Good luck tomorrow nite and post up some results.
I am not really sure what the question is, but I am pretty sure the answer is Big Block.

You don't have a "buddy" that slipped a couple hundred lbs of lead somewhere in the car did you? Like down in the cowl vent, or maybe behind the rear qtrs?

I'm not trying to run any weight classes any more. Just heads up cap classes like 5.30, 5.50, 5.80 type stuff.
